Astrology Books
Learning Astrology
- For a solid overview of the planets, zodiac signs, aspects, and houses, I recommend Stephen Arroyo’s Chart Interpretation Handbook: Guidelines for Understanding the Essentials of the Birth Chart.
- And for an awesome introduction to Evolutionary Astrology (the primary branch I practice), Steven Forrest’s The Inner Sky: How to Make Wiser Choices for a More Fulfilling Life is a must-read.
- If you’re interested in digging deeper into the mythology behind astrology and seeing the planetary and sign archetypes through an ancient lens, you’ll love Mythic Astrology: Internalizing the Planetary Powers by Arielle Guttman and Kenneth Johnson.
- If you like audio books and prefer to “feel into” the planets, signs, and their archetypes, one of my favorites is Caroline Caseys’ Visionary Activist Astrology: Become a Secret Agent for Transformation.
- For a deeper dive into the houses in astrology, I’d recommend The Houses: Temples of the Sky by Deborah Houlding
- For relationship chart analysis, there are a lot of great books out there, but I really enjoyed Stephen Arroyo’s Energy Factors in Love, Sex and Compatibility.
North & South Node Astrology
- If you’re interested in past lives, reincarnation, and Evolutionary Astrology, then a great read is Steven Forrest’s Yesterday’s Sky: Astrology and Reincarnation.
- For a beautiful and detailed analysis of the karmic North and South Nodes of the Moon, I strongly recommend Jan Spiller’s Astrology for the Soul.
- And if you would like to continue your exploration of the Nodes, another fantastic book is Elizabeth Spring’s Rediscovering Your Life Direction and Soul Purpose.

Astrology Websites & Apps
For detailed astrological charts, I highly recommend astro.com. You can pull a wide range of free charts here and plug in any asteroid or planetary body via the Extended Chart Selection. These charts do not include descriptions, but the above books, a reading with an astrologer, or, for some things, a quick Google search can help with interpretation.
For detailed horoscopes, I recommend the free TimePassages App from Astrograph. This app shows important short- and long-term planetary transits to your birth (natal) chart (i.e. horoscopes), along with thorough descriptions for each. There are many apps that will give you horoscopes, but won’t give you the planetary reason behind those horoscopes, but TimePassages gives you full information so that you can learn astrology as you learn about the impact it is having on your life.
If you’re interested in seeing which asteroids, centaurs, trans-Neptunian objects (TNOs), and other planetary bodies play a role in your astrological charts, you can use Serennu’s Asteroid Emphemeris tool.
